Serina Therapeutics announced the appointment of Dr. Joshua Thomas as Vice President and Head of Chemistry, strengthening the company’s leadership team as it advances its proprietary polymer technology platform for drug development. The company said the appointment supports its efforts to progress multiple therapeutic programs toward clinical development.
According to the company, Dr. Thomas brings extensive experience in medicinal chemistry, polymer science and drug delivery, with a background spanning small-molecule design, conjugation chemistry and formulation strategies. His prior roles included leadership positions in pharmaceutical and biotechnology organizations where he supported preclinical and clinical development programs across a range of therapeutic areas.
Serina said Dr. Thomas will be responsible for overseeing chemistry strategy across its pipeline, including optimization of polymer-drug conjugates, scale-up activities and integration of chemistry efforts with biology, pharmacology and manufacturing functions. His role is expected to play a key part in advancing Serina’s lead programs, including candidates focused on neurological and other chronic diseases where sustained and targeted drug delivery may offer therapeutic advantages.
The company stated that expanding its leadership team reflects continued progress in building the capabilities needed to translate its polymer-based platform into clinical-stage assets.
