Function announced the appointment of Ziad Sultan as Chief Product and Technology Officer (CPTO), following the company’s recent US$298 million Series B funding round that values Function at US$2.5 billion.
Sultan will oversee Function’s technology and product teams, leading the next phase of AI development as the company builds out its new Medical Intelligence Lab. His mandate includes advancing offerings such as Private AI Chat and personalized health Protocols—tools designed to deliver individualized health insights and care pathways.
Before joining Function, Sultan was Senior Vice President of Personalization at Spotify, where he managed product, engineering, data, design, tech research and operations for over 500 staff. During his tenure at Spotify, he played a key role in deploying generative‑AI features like the AI DJ, and helped scale one of the world’s most advanced personalization engines—serving hundreds of millions of users globally.
Function said the hire underscores its ambition to combine cutting‑edge AI, longitudinal health data, and advanced diagnostics to democratize access to personalized health management.
