BTT Medical Institute says it has documented what it describes as the first confirmed case of total reversal of Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), achieved through a novel noninvasive therapy called Computerized Brain‑Guided Intelligent Thermofebrile Therapy (CBIT²).
The patient was a 56-year-old woman from Illinois whose ALS had been diagnosed first at a major U.S. neurology center and had progressed despite standard-of-care treatment. According to the report, after CBIT² treatment she experienced complete disappearance of lower motor neuron denervation (as confirmed by follow-up electromyography), normalization of molecular biomarkers linked to neurodegeneration, restoration of structural integrity (including reconstitution of atrophied muscle), and recovery of motor function, speech, swallowing, respiration and cognition. The patient reportedly regained complex physical abilities, including swimming, playing golf and pickleball.
CBIT² is described as a computer-controlled, AI-guided therapy that modulates brain temperature in real time to induce a therapeutic “fever”—reengineering a concept originally used in early neuropsychiatric treatments a century ago—with the goal of triggering heat-shock protein expression and promoting clearance of misfolded proteins such as TDP-43, which are implicated in ALS pathology.
The organization said it will begin formal clinical trials in early 2026 to test reproducibility and safety in a broader ALS population.
