CART BP successfully monitors blood pressure in microgravity – Longevity.Technology

CART BP—a cuffless, ring-type blood pressure monitor by Sky Labs—has successfully measured blood pressure in a microgravity environment, the company said. The validation came from a flight experiment conducted by a research team from University of Cambridge in collaboration with the International Institute of Astronautical Sciences (IIAS).

During a parabolic-flight mission that created a low-gravity environment (~0–0.1 g), CART BP continued to collect continuous, reliable blood-pressure data without a cuff. This confirms the device’s potential to perform accurate cardiovascular monitoring even under conditions similar to space.

CART BP was first introduced as a wearable solution for 24-hour blood-pressure monitoring, including sleep periods—addressing limitations of traditional cuff-based devices that cannot track nighttime or ambulatory blood pressure conveniently. The ring uses optical sensors to detect blood flow via the finger, aiming for both clinical-grade accuracy and comfort for continuous use.

Sky Labs emphasised that the microgravity test expands the possible applications of CART BP beyond conventional healthcare—potentially enabling cardiovascular health monitoring for astronauts or individuals in space missions.
