Companies file joint patents relating to synergistic combination and collaborate on new hair and scalp care product.
Longevity biotech Yuva Biosciences is continuing its collaborative strategy, announcing a partnership with medical aesthetics biotech Elevai Labs (NASDAQ: ELAB) to file two new patents relating to hair loss and scalp care. The new patents focus on combining Elevai’s exosomes with Yuva’s Y100 mitochondrial technology, aiming to enhance hair and scalp vitality.
The first patent focuses on the synergistic effect of the combined treatments, which the companies suggest has the potential to deliver better results than using either technology independently. The second patent relates to the use of exosomes and similar nanovesicles as a delivery system that protects and preserves the molecules they carry.
Elevai has incorporated both approaches into its S-Series Root Renewal System, a three-part regimen designed for hair and scalp care, combining the company’s proprietary precision regenerative exosome technology with the Y100 mitochondrial technology developed by Yuva Bio. This new product line was unveiled at a recent industry tradeshow, and the company said it plans to commence “full-scale marketing” imminently.
The Y100 technology was discovered using Yuva Bio’s MitoGPT AI platform co-developed by leading mitochondrial biology researcher Dr Keshav K. Singh, whose research helped establish that mitochondrial dysfunction plays a crucial role in hair and skin aging. His 2018 publication in Nature demonstrated that restoring mitochondrial function reversed wrinkled skin and hair loss in mice, and led to the formation of Yuva Bio.
“We are excited to have been able to partner with a scientific innovator such as Elevai Labs to successfully combine our award-winning technologies to create revolutionary new products for the world of medical aesthetics,” said Yuva Bio CEO Greg Schmergel. “We look forward to helping people concerned about the signs of aging through use of the Elevai S-Series Root Renewal System.”
The partnership with Elevai is the latest industry collaboration for Yuva Bio, which leverages mitochondrial science to develop cosmeceuticals and pharmaceuticals targeting age-related conditions like hair loss and skin deterioration. Earlier this year, the company announced a partnership with hair restoration specialist BosleyMD, which saw its Y100 technology incorporated into a new “densifying foam” product.
